Housing

Building Partnerships with Not-for-Profits for Affordable Housing , In 2025, as part of our commitment to becoming a Sponsorship Agreement Holder (SAH), our organization aims to establish professional relationships with not-for-profit organizations and charities involved in the development of affordable housing. These partnerships will enable us to support the housing needs of newcomer families that we sponsor through the community sponsorship program.

Partnership Opportunities with Affordable Housing Not-for-Profits

Overview of Affordable Housing Needs for Newcomers:

  • Newcomer families arriving in Canada face significant challenges in securing affordable and suitable housing. High rent costs, limited availability of social housing, and unfamiliarity with the Canadian housing market are common barriers.
  • Housing is one of the critical needs that newcomer families must meet when they arrive, and ensuring access to safe, affordable housings key to their successful integration into Canadian society.

How Our Organization Can Support Newcomers:

  • Temporary and Permanent Housing Solutions: As a community sponsor, we plan to provide short-term accommodation solutions (e.g., temporary housing or transitional homes) upon the arrival of newcomers, followed by assistance in securing long-term affordable housing options.
  • Rent Subsidies: For families who are eligible, we will coordinate with not-for-profit organizations to secure rent subsidies and discounted rental properties.
  • Financial Assistance for Housing Costs: Our organization will help newcomers navigate the financial aspects of securing housing, such as covering initial rent deposit or furnishing costs, with the support of our partner charities and housing organizations.
  • Housing Navigation Services: Our team will assist newcomers in understanding Canadian rental agreements, the rights and responsibilities of tenants, and the overall process of finding and applying for rental housing.
