Our Commitment to Newcomer Families
As part of our ongoing commitment to support families in their resettlement journey, we are working closely with Yasht Wellness Center to provide free mindfulness and wellness services to newcomer families for their first year in Canada. These services are designed to nurture their mental health, promote emotional healing, and help them adapt to their new life in a healthy, balanced way.
What We Offer in Partnership with Yasht Wellness Center
- Mindfulness and Yoga Sessions
- Mindfulness Training: We provide free mindfulness sessions aimed at helping families reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and enhance their overall well-being. These sessions are designed to be culturally sensitive and welcoming to individuals from all backgrounds.
- Guided Yoga: Weekly guided Yoga sessions will help newcomers relax, focus, and heal from any emotional distress caused by the challenges of resettling in a new country.
- Stress Relief Techniques: Practical techniques for managing anxiety and stress, offering families tools they can use in their day-to-day lives to cope with the pressures of resettlement.
- Emotional Wellness Support
- One-on-One Counseling: For those who need individual attention, our counseling services are available to address trauma, grief, anxiety, or any other mental health concerns. These confidential sessions will be provided by trained professionals at Yasht Wellness Center with a focus on cultural sensitivity.
- Support Groups for Women: Specially designed support groups for women to connect, share their experiences, and provide mutual support in a group setting. These sessions will also incorporate mindfulness practices to help reduce stress and build resilience.
- Youth Emotional Wellness: Children and youth will have access to age-appropriate mindfulness and emotional wellness programs to help them process their emotions and thrive during their adjustment period.
- Family Wellness and Connection
- Family Mindfulness Sessions: We understand that adjusting to a new culture can be stressful for the whole family. Our family-centered mindfulness sessions will allow families to engage together in mindful practices that promote bonding and a sense of calm.
- Interactive Wellness Workshops: Workshops focused on helping families establish healthy habits around sleep, nutrition, and relaxation. These workshops will provide practical advice and strategies for maintaining well-being while adjusting to a new life.
- Cultural Sensitivity in Wellness: We will ensure that all wellness programs are delivered in a culturally respectful manner, honoring the diverse backgrounds of the families we serve.
- Resilience Building and Trauma-Informed Care
- Trauma-Informed Mindfulness Practices: Given the challenging experiences many newcomers may have faced; we are integrating trauma-informed mindfulness techniques to help individuals heal and build resilience. This approach ensures that the services provided are sensitive to the trauma many refugees and immigrants may have experienced.
- Resilience Workshops for Families: Workshops focused on building resilience and coping mechanisms will help families navigate challenges and remain hopeful and strong in their new environment.
Our Collaborative Efforts: Empowering Newcomer Families with Compassion
By working closely with Yasht Wellness Center, we are creating a supportive, ongoing wellness program that will offer newcomer families the tools they need to not only survive but thrive in their new lives in Canada. With no costs for these services during the first year of arrival, we ensure that financial barriers do not prevent families from accessing essential mental health and wellness support.
Together, we aim to promote holistic well-being by addressing both the emotional and mental health needs of newcomer families, empowering them to adjust, heal, and flourish in their new communities.
